Nurse Practitioner Spotlight

Diann L. Nelson-Houser, MSN, ARNP, FNP

Diann grew up in Chicago, IL and has lived in the Columbus area for over 30 years. In her spare time, Diann loves to boat, fish, run, swim, motorcycle, travel, read, and spend time with family and friends. Diann is the proud owner of a 2013 Harley Davidson Road King Classic and can be seen zipping around the Gahanna area, when time and weather permit. She is an unwavering and optimistic Cubs baseball fan and also enjoys watching football and hockey. She has two children, Amelia, 30 and John, 29.

Career & Experience

Diann graduated summa cum laude with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Otterbein University and is accredited by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners with a specialty in Family Practice. Her experience includes family practice, internal medicine, nursing home, assisted living and home care. She, along with business partner Rebecca Shaw, own and operate Affordable Care Health Clinic.

Diann is known for her passion for direct patient care, her inclusion of family members and significant others in the education and decision-making process, and as an advocate and activist for reformed, accessible healthcare. She serves as the 2014 president of the Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses, and has been active in legislative and policymaking activities at the state level. She has taught advanced practice nursing students from The Ohio State University, Case Western Reserve University, Ohio University, University of Cincinnati, Cedarville University and Otterbein University. She has served as a preceptor and mentor to many nurse practitioner students and new graduates in the field.
